Good morning,
You know it’s Kansas when last week we had a temperature of 103 with a heat index of 117
degrees and this morning it’s 66 degrees outside. Thanks to all who were at Area Assembly a
couple weeks ago. It was well attended with 99 voting members at the Sunday meeting. A
couple things to note; due to facility lease increases and accommodations, we will be moving to
the Great Bend Convention Center in January. Also in January, the Area will be taking a look at
the prudent reserve excess funds and what to do with that.
I truly appreciate all the feedback from the members after the Delegate Report on Saturday.
Since then, I have become aware that there was an April 5 e-mail from the Conference
Literature Committee Chair to the members of that committee. I don’t have the details of that
e-mail, but I understand it was informing them of the Canadian Delegate’s intention to bring his
objection to the word Eskimo to the committee, rather than having submitted a PAI last year.
The delegate chair of that committee presents the order that items are voted on at Conference,
and I feel like we were manipulated into immediately voting for something that should have
been brought to the membership a year ago. It is a disturbing thought as the Conference is a
spiritual body that necessarily has to conduct business.
This weekend, July 31 – Aug 3, is the first formal Board weekend since Conference. Ken T., chair
of the Trustee’s General Service Conference Committee will be scheduling a Touchpoint on-line
meeting with Chris H., Area 58, and myself as Chair and Alt. Chair of the Policy and Admissions
Committee to share information about Board weekend. August 27 th is scheduled for an on-line
General Sharing Session between members of the Board and Delegates. Both of these meetings
are results of the 2024 Board inventory. As always, if you have concerns, questions, or just a
general thought, please e-mail me at delegate@ks-aa.org.
It is with gratitude for the privilege of serving,
Ken S.
Great Bend en enero.
Ken S.
